Day 281 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
July 13, 2024

On the 281st day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the Jaber family began emptying their residential building in the Wadi Al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem after the final decision to demolish it, while a delegation from the Supreme Islamic Commission visited the Al-Khalidi family’s property, which was recovered from the settlers, and the forces arrested 3 young men from the town of Silwan.

A residential building is threatened with demolition

The Jaber family emptied their residential building, and dismantled the windows and doors, after the final demolition decision, under the pretext of building without a license.

Nader Jaber, 61 years old, explained that the occupation authorities issued a decision to demolish his residential building, pointing out that part of the building existed before the occupation of Jerusalem, and another since 1998, and imposed “building violations” of more than one million shekels on it.

He explained that all the courts, the “Magistrate, District, and Supreme” courts approved the demolition of the building.

He pointed out that years ago he was sent to prison because he was unable to pay a “construction violation.”

Jaber said: “I refused to self-demolish the building, because I was unable to carry out the demolition, especially since it is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It is difficult to carry out the demolition, but I emptied and evacuated the house, and it is expected that the demolition will be carried out at any time.”

A visit to Al-Khalidi property

A delegation from the Supreme Islamic Commission, headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, visited the Al-Khalidi family property in the Old City of Jerusalem, which was restored from settlers.

Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, head of the Supreme Islamic Council and preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressed the importance of endowment of real estate in Jerusalem, and said: “We emphasize our repeated call to the owners of the property to endow it; the endowment guarantees immunity for the house and its people. Our country is a holy country, and any Muslim aims to have a mark on it. We affirm the Shari’a ruling that if the endowments end, they are consequently transferred to the general endowment.”

Lawyer Sanaa Dweik spoke about the legal steps until the Al-Khalidi property was restored.

At the end of last month, the settlers stormed the Al-Khalidi family property, and the family was able to recover it and remove the settlers from it. The court decided that the property is an endowment for the Al-Khalidi family.

The property consists of 3 floors with a total area of 200 square meters, directly overlooking the Al-Buraq Wall and several meters away from Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Arrests

The occupation forces arrested 3 young men from the town of Silwan on Saturday early morning.

On Saturday afternoon, forces arrested a group of Palestinians at the Hizma checkpoint.

The forces also carried out raids into towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem.
