Day 298 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
July 30, 2024

On the 298th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the bulldozers of the occupation municipality bulldozed the land of the Alayan family "to build a settlement", while the raids on the towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, and the attacks and arrests in the city continued.

Beit Safafa... A new bulldozing to build a settlement building

The crews of the occupation municipality, accompanied by police officers and special forces, stormed a plot of land belonging to the heirs of Ibrahim Alayan, in the "Khirbet Tabalia" area in Beit Safafa in the city of Jerusalem, and began bulldozing, uprooting and demolishing stone chains. The owners of the land confronted the bulldozing and demanded that work on the land be stopped.

Ahmed Alayan explained to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, that this is the second time in a week that the family's land has been raided; the first time, they carried out the demolition of a barracks in the place, and today they carried out the uprooting of trees and the demolition of stone chains in addition to a large-scale bulldozing operation on the land.

At the beginning of this year, the municipality bulldozers carried out a large-scale bulldozing operation on the family's land, uprooting dozens of fruit trees, and paving a street in the place.

The occupation authorities are planning to implement a settlement project on the family’s lands and the lands adjacent to them, “pave roads to connect the settlements, and establish settlement units, a kindergarten, and a synagogue.”

The heirs of the late Ibrahim Alayan own 25 dunoms in the area and have the land title deeds for it. In 2010, the occupation authorities "re-divided the lands of Jabal al-Tabalia" without the knowledge of the landowners and without their consent. According to the law, 7 dunoms of the family's lands were taken out "i.e. confiscated" and replaced with another site. For years, objections were submitted to the relevant departments in the municipality, the Israeli courts, and even the Supreme Court, but the decisions were not in the family's favor. Work on the land was frozen by a court decision, but the municipality and the forces did not recognize the decision and are carrying out bulldozing and expropriation work at the site.

Al-Aqsa raids

132 extremists stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of the occupation forces, through the Dung Gate, whose keys have been controlled by the occupation authorities since the occupation of Jerusalem.

The settlers performed prayers during the storming of Al-Aqsa.

On the other hand, the alleged Temple groups began preparations for the anniversary of the so-called "destruction of the temple" and the annual march organized on the eve of the "commemoration of the anniversary", and this year called for a human chain around the wall of the Old City, and to raise the Israeli flags during that.

This year, the "anniversary of the destruction of the Temple" falls on the thirteenth of August, and every year, large-scale raids are organized on Al-Aqsa.

Prison sentences

The Israeli courts issued actual prison sentences against the following young men:

  • Mustafa Mujahid was sentenced for 15 months
  • Jihad Qos was sentenced for 12 months

  • Ahmed Najib was sentenced for 12 months.

The occupation intelligence service handed Shadi Mtour, Secretary of the Fatah Movement in Jerusalem, a decision "with the intention of renewing the ban on his entry into the West Bank."

Raids and arrests

The raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued, with checkpoints being set up, vehicles stopped, and various fines being imposed. In the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, a number of young men were assaulted after being forced out of their vehicles.

In the Shu’fat refugee camp, the forces arrested a woman after raiding her home, and stormed the streets and alleys of the refugee camp.
