Day 314 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation

On the 314th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the Ateret Cohanim Association seized a residential building in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan, and settlers continued their raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem.

Seizure of the Shehadeh family property

In the afternoon, dozens of settlers stormed the building of the Shehadeh family in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, under the protection of special forces, police, and settlers’ guards. The forces closed the roads and intersections leading to it, prevented family members from reaching the building, and assaulted them by pushing them and throwing bombs to keep them away from the place.

The Shehadeh family, after receiving the judicial notices demanding the land on which the family's property was built and then the eviction decisions, went to the Israeli courts and reached the Supreme Court, rejecting the eviction decision and affirming their right to the property. However, after years of their struggle in the courts, and at the end of last June, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal submitted by the family against the decision of the "District Court" issued in November 2022, which ordered the eviction of the family from their property.

The Shehadeh family property is located within the 5200 square meters of lands of the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan, that the Ateret Cohanim Association claims they belonged to Jews from Yemen since 1881. Since 2015, the association has been delivering notices and judicial notices to families in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood to evict them from their homes.

87 families, including 600-680 people, live in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood "on the entire area of land threatened with confiscation." Some families have been evicted from their property, while others are still facing decisions and judicial notices in the "Magistrate, District, and Supreme" courts.

The Shehadeh family purchased the plot of land in 1966, and the eviction of the family displaced 35 members of the family.

The family explained that they are in the process of going to international courts to appeal the eviction decision.

Al-Aqsa…Continuous raids

On Thursday, 200 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through the Dung Gate, during the morning and afternoon raids, and performed prayers during the raid.

Raids

The forces continued to raid towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, set up checkpoints and issue violations.
