September 12, 2024

On the 342nd day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", a session was held in the District Court to discuss the petition filed against the “Silicon Valley Project” in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem. Dozens of settlers carried out their raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the raids on towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem continued.

A session at the District Court

A session was held at the District Court to consider the petition submitted by the merchants and residents of Wadi al-Joz neighborhood through attorney Muhannad Jbara, rejecting the "Silicon Valley" project, which according to the plan is to demolish approximately 80 commercial and industrial facilities and confiscate the lands.

Lawyer Jbara explained in a meeting with the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, that during the session the petition submitted against the "Silicon Valley" project was discussed, and we demanded the cancellation of the project, and we confirmed during the claim that it was approved without taking the opinion of the residents, and this contradicts Israeli laws, stressing that during the session he confirmed that the municipality and the "Jerusalem Development Authority" approved the project unilaterally, and imposed the project on the residents and merchants, and that it is "a reality and must be dealt with."

Jbara added during the session that the project aims to limit the possibility of building for housing in this area, and prevents the submission of alternative plans in the neighborhood, and described it as a disastrous project.

Jbara confirmed that the project is located meters away from the Old City and Al-Aqsa. On his part, Engineer Samir Qirresh - one of those affected by the project - said, "The plan is a ring that connects the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood with the Wadi al-Joz area and Al-Buraq Wall, in the form of a fire belt to displace the residents. He pointed out that the number of shops that received demolition orders is 60 shops with an area exceeding 60 dunoms, and 200 families are affected by this project."

According to the project, it consists of high-tech companies, commercial complexes, hotels, a technical college, and expanding green spaces and streets in the area, where 200,000 square meters will be allocated to high-tech companies, 50,000 to hotels, another 50,000 to commercial spaces, and part of a 5-year government initiative worth 2.1 billion shekels.

Al-Aqsa raids

205 extremist settlers and Jewish students stormed and desecrated Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and afternoon incursion periods, and performed collective and public prayers, and a group played the "horn sound" via mobile phones during the morning raids.

Raid and prison sentences

The forces stormed the town of Anata at dawn, and arrested the young man Mohammad Halaweh.

The young man Mohammad Sa'ida was sentenced to 24 months in prison, and the young man Omar Siam to 10 months, noting that they were arrested at the end of last year.
