Day 350 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
September 20, 2024

On the 350th day of "Al-Aqsa Flood Operation", the occupation authorities imposed restrictions on the entry of worshipers to Al-Aqsa, while the Ramadan family continued to self-demolish their home in the town of Beit Hanina by decision of the occupation municipality, and the raids on towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem and the deployment of barriers in the streets of the city continued.

Al-Aqsa...Restrictions, attacks and prayers in the streets

The occupation authorities prevented hundreds of worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers.

The worshipers explained to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, that the forces, same like every Friday, are stationed at all the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and set up iron barriers, and randomly stop those coming to Al-Aqsa from "young men, women and children", and prevent hundreds of them from entering without any reason.

The worshipers added: "The forces stop the worshipers and then force them to leave the area immediately. Some of them get their IDs checked and most of them without any question or checking their IDs, just "go back, you are forbidden from entering Al-Aqsa."

The worshipers continued: “The matter does not stop at the gates of Al-Aqsa only, but the forces follow us to exit from the gates of the Old City, and accompany the youth to ensure that they exit the city, especially from the Lions Gate area, to prevent any prayer on the thresholds of Al-Aqsa... and listening to the sermon through the minarets.”

On Friday, attacks on worshipers with sticks and shoving were recorded, most notably at al-Silsileh Gate and Lions Gate.

The forces arrested the two young men, Maher Khaldoun Sarhan and Yousef Saeed al-Halisi, after assaulting them with beatings. After hours of detention and investigation, they were released on condition that they be deported from the Old City.

The occupation authorities also imposed similar restrictions on the entry of worshipers into al-Aqsa to perform the Friday dawn prayer, and assaulted the young men with shoving and beatings.

The worshipers performed the dawn and Friday prayers in the streets and on the doorsteps of the Old City "at the closest point they could reach."

Prayers for settlers at the gates of Al-Aqsa

After Friday midnight, the settlers performed their prayers and formed circles of dancing and singing at the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque from the outside.

Demolition and displacement

The occupation municipality forced the Ramadan family to self-demolish their home in Beit Hanina, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Hussam Ramadan explained that the municipality issued a decision to demolish his 85-square-meter house, and gave him a period of time to implement the decision, otherwise its mechanisms would do so and he would have to pay the demolition costs. He added that the municipality had issued a decision in 2021 imposing a financial fine on him in the amount of "35 thousand shekels", which he committed to paying monthly, but he was surprised by the final demolition decision.

Four people lived in the house built of reinforced sheet metal.
