From Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr: Ongoing Demolitions and Displacement Targeting Palestinians
April 2, 2025

The demolition and displacement operations carried out by Israeli occupation authorities continued during the days of Eid al-Fitr and throughout the month of Ramadan.

On Wednesday, Israeli forces conducted demolition operations in the town of Anata, targeting two homes, two sheep pens, a room, and fences belonging to the “Fheidat” and “Dayafin” families.

In the town of Al-Issawiya in Jerusalem, bulldozers demolished a horse stable and leveled a piece of land.

On the second day of Eid, the Israeli municipality forced a young Palestinian man, Mohammed Abu Sway, to demolish his own home with his own hands under the pretext of “unauthorized construction” / “building without a permit”. Despite the house having stood for 14 years, covering an area of 200 square meters and housing 12 family members, the authorities still deemed it illegal.

Abu Sway explained that the municipality had imposed a fine of 75,000 shekels on him for the "violation of unlicensed construction" and had rejected all attempts to obtain a legal permit for his home.

During Ramadan, demolitions continued in several areas, including Silwan, Beit Hanina, Al-Issawiya, and Sur Baher. In previous years, such operations were typically suspended during Ramadan, marking a notable escalation in the occupation's policies this year.

Israeli municipal teams also continued to raid Palestinian towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, issue demolition orders, distribute stop-work notices, and summon residents for municipal questioning throughout the holy month.
