The Obeid family is forced to self-demolish its home in the village of Issawiya
The municipality forced the Obeid family to self-demolish their home in the village Issawiya, claiming it was built without a permit.
The home belongs to Yousef Obeid, who vacated it a few days ago and began implementing the demolition order today to avoid paying fines (demolition fees for municipal crews and accompanying forces).
The family explained that the home has been standing for eight years and is home to three people.
Self-demolition (or forced demolition) is a procedure imposed by the occupation municipality on Jerusalemites who have received demolition orders for their homes under the pretext of building without a permit. Families are forced to carry out the demolition themselves to avoid paying fines.
