The occupation is pursuing journalist Bayan Jubeh and her child... house arrest, a postponed trial, and an infant without papers
The Israeli Magistrate's Court decided on Tuesday to postpone the trial of Jerusalemite journalist Bayan Jubeh until August 13, 2025. She remains under house arrest for five months, and is banned from using social media.
Jubeh faces an indictment for incitement via social media, which the Public Prosecution filed against her last March.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem explained that occupation forces arrested Bayan Jubeh on February 28, 2025, from inside Al-Aqsa Mosque while she was pregnant, accompanied by her husband, journalist Mohammad al-Sadiq, and their two daughters. She was later released under strict conditions, most notably house arrest.
Despite the circumstances of her pregnancy and childbirth, judicial proceedings against her continued over the past months. Several court sessions were held, and she gave birth to her son, Yazan, last April while under house arrest.
Bayan Jubeh, a mother of three children, the oldest of whom is seven years old and the youngest of whom is four months old, also faces administrative prosecution of her child. The Israeli Ministry of Interior has refused to register Yazan on her ID card or issue him official papers, claiming that the family lives in the town of al-Ram (classified as part of the West Bank). This is despite the court ordering Jubeh to serve house arrest in her home in the Shu’fat refugee camp in Jerusalem.
This decision deprives Yazan of health insurance and basic healthcare services, given the infant's need for medical care and follow-up.
