January 14, 2026

The Israeli Magistrate's Court issued prison sentences on Wednesday against two Jerusalemite women.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem explained that the Magistrate’s Court sentenced Hanadi Halawani and Aida al-Sidawi to three months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation for three years, in addition to a fine of 1,200 shekels and a bail payment for each of them.

The sentence also included additional conditions, including:

• Refraining from assaulting or harassing the police

• Complying with police orders

• Abiding by any administrative decision, including deportation orders

The center noted that the cases for which they were sentenced date back to 2019 and 2021.

It clarified that the common charge against Halawani and al-Sidawi was "assaulting police and settlers."

Hanadi Halawani also faces an additional charge of "violating an administrative order" (2021), while Aida Sidawi faces a charge of "spitting on a police officer" (2021).

The Wadi Hilweh Center noted that the court held more than 30 sessions over the past years in these cases before issuing a final verdict.
