Faced with fines, the Abu Teir family demolishes part of their home in Umm Tuba
The Israeli municipality compelled Jerusalem resident Attiya Abu Teir to personally demolish part of his home in Umm Tuba, southeast of Jerusalem, citing unauthorized construction.
This situation occurs amid the state of emergency declared in the country due to the Israeli-American conflict with Iran. The Israeli municipality continues to issue demolition orders and set deadlines for their execution, threatening families with heavy fines, often called "demolition fees." Evictions are also ongoing in different neighborhoods of Jerusalem.
Attiya Abu Teir has resided in his home with his family of five, including three children, since 2014. They explained that about 30 square meters of the structure had to be demolished.
Last week, demolitions occurred in Sur Baher, and 13 residential apartments were evicted in Silwan.
