Between his concern for his mother and waiting for his high school results, Saleh Al-Akleek turns himself in to prison to serve a 9-month sentence
The Jerusalemite youth Saleh Al-Akleek turned himself in to Ramla prison on Thursday to begin serving a nine-month sentence.
Israeli occupation forces detained Al-Akleek on April 21, 2025, and released him about a month later under strict conditions, such as house arrest and an electronic monitoring bracelet. Early in the year, restrictions were eased, allowing the removal of the bracelet, though house arrest continued. His case remained under court review during this time.
Despite facing arrest and house arrest conditions, Saleh managed to complete his high school exams before saying goodbye to his family and turning himself in to prison to serve his sentence.
The day he turned himself in coincided with a difficult day for his family, as his mother was undergoing a catheterization procedure. This increased his anxiety about her health and his fear of being unable to check on her or follow up during his detention, especially given the limited visitations and communication with prisoners. Furthermore, Saleh will miss sharing with his family the moment of announcing his high school results, having taken his exams after months of house arrest and ongoing court sessions.
