Raids, detentions, and forced phone calls: The occupation targets the families of released prisoners and people deported from Jerusalem
Occupation intelligence and military forces, accompanied by officers, conducted a series of raids on the homes of former prisoners—including those who had been released and later deported to Turkey—in neighborhoods and towns across Jerusalem. The operations included detentions, field interrogations, and threats against family members.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem reported that the raids affected several homes belonging to families of former prisoners and people deported to Turkey. These included homes of the Abu Qteish, Al-akari, Issa, and Al-Jo’beh families in Anata; the Al-Jo’beh family in the Old City; the Abu Asab family in the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood; and the Attoun family in Sur Baher.
The Center stated that occupation forces surrounded the targeted homes, confined families inside, and conducted field interrogations, focusing specifically on former prisoners. In some cases, forces entered and searched the residences, creating an atmosphere of threat and intimidation throughout the operations.
Israeli forces blindfolded members of several families and detained them in a single room, including elderly people, women, and children.
Furthermore, the occupation forces pressured some family members to call their relatives deported to Turkey using their personal phones. The forces also held the families responsible for recent developments, particularly an operation in Hebron yesterday that reportedly killed two soldiers.
The raids involved detaining several family members, including women, moving some people from their homes to other locations, and threatening further arrests.
These incursions are part of a broader campaign targeting released prisoners and their families—particularly the families of those whom the occupation authorities have forcibly deported beyond the Palestinian territories. Occupation forces raid these families’ homes, detain family members, and subject them to interrogation and threats, even though their loved ones have already been deported from Jerusalem and Palestine.
