Forcing the Jerusalemite Fawaz al-Rajabi to self-demolish his home in Beit Hanina
The Israeli occupation municipality forced the Jerusalemite Fawaz al-Rajabi to self-demolish his home in Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem, claiming it had been built without a permit.
Al-Rajabi was forced to carry out the difficult demolition himself to avoid further financial penalties and the risk of damaging his son’s adjacent house, which could have happened if the occupation’s machinery had been used.
The 60-square-meter house has stood for about 15 years and was home to al-Rajabi, his wife, and their five children. The occupation municipality had previously fined him 60,000 shekels.
"I’ll stay on my home’s grounds; we have nowhere else to go," al-Rajabi said. "Even if I have to live in a tent, I’ll stay right here."
