Shifa’ Shallodi turns herself-in to serve a 7-month prison sentence in the occupation’s prisons
December 19, 2016

The 37-year old Shifa’ Shallodi turned herself-in to the administration of Al-Maskobyeh prison to serve her 7-month prison sentence on charges of “attempting to assault policemen and illegally staying in the city of Jerusalem”.

Shallodi explained that she turned herself-in after 11 months of house-arrest as she was arrested in October 2015 and was released after 40 days with a bail and house-arrest until completing the legal procedures against her. In the beginning of December and after several hearing sessions, she was sentenced to actual imprisonment in addition to deportation from the city of Jerusalem as her “residency” application was rejected after she was arrested for security reasons.

Shifa’ Shallodi said: “One of the hardest moments ever is when I turned myself-in to serve my prison sentence leaving my four children behind (oldest is 18 and youngest is 9) when they all need me and need continuous follow-up as three of them are in school. My mother and my mother-in-law left their homes to stay with my children and the house.”

The problem is not the actual imprisonment imposed on Shifa’ since she won’t be able to return home when she gets out of prison and is not allowed to stay in the city of Jerusalem. She said: “My destiny is unknown…I don’t know how I will take care of my children after I get out of prison when I am deported from Jerusalem. I won’t be able to return home after being deported and after cancelling my residency application.”

When she was arrested in October 2015, the forces also arrested her son Fadi on the same day and released him on condition of house-arrest. After being under house-arrest for 7 months, he was sentenced to actual imprisonment for 100 days. Afterwards, her son Samer was arrested and was sentenced for 7 months in prison on charges of throwing stones at the occupation forces.
