Funeral procession of Martyr Siham Nimer
April 26, 2017

Dozens of young men participated after Wednesday midnight in the funeral procession of Martyr Siham Rateb Nimer (49) and buried her next to her son, Martyr Mustafa Nimer, who was martyred last September.

The Red Crescent crews received the body of Martyr Siham near “Anata” military camp. The body was taken to her house in Shu’fat Refugee Camp where her family took the final look at her before proceeding with the funeral procession. They prayed to her soul in “Abu Obaida” Mosque and then headed towards Anata Cemetery where she was buried.

During the funeral, slogans for Martyrs and prisoners currently on hunger strike were chanted and Palestinian flags and banners were raised.

Martyr Siham Nimer, mother of Martyr Mustafa, was martyred last March after being shot in the area of Damascus Gate in Jerusalem.

Martyr Mustafa Nimer was martyred last September after the occupation forces opened fire towards his vehicle under the pretext of attempting to run-over Israeli soldiers in Shu’fat Refugee Camp. Ali Nimer, who was in the vehicle with Martyr Mustafa when the incident occurred, denied the occupation’s claims. Later on, it was revealed that what had happened was a “traffic accident”.

Thaer Fasfoos, spokesman of Fateh movement in Shu’fat Refugee Camp, explained that the occupation authorities decided to release the body of Martyr Siham late Wednesday night and to bury her under conditions. No more than 50 people were allowed to participate in the funeral and she should be buried immediately after receiving the body. The family also had to deposit 20 thousand NIS to ensure commitment to the rules.

Detaining Martyrs’ bodies

The occupation authorities continue to detain the bodies of four Jerusalemite Martyrs, they are: Musbah Abu Sbeih (detained since last October), Fadi Qunbar (detained since last January), Ibrahim Matar (detained since last month) and Suhaib Mashahra who was martyred earlier this month.
