Arrests and injuries while suppressing a protest against settlements in Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem
The occupation forces suppressed on Friday the weekly protest held in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in Jerusalem against settlements and seizing houses in the neighborhood.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that activists and locals of Sheikh Jarrah protested in front of the house of Shamasneh family in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah which was seized in favor of the settlers last Tuesday, and raised Palestinian flags and banners refusing settlements.
The locals of Sheikh Jarrah added that the forces harassed protestors and assaulted and pushed them before arrested three Jerusalemites; Mohammad Mahmoud Al-Sa’ou (12), Mu’taz Mahmoud Al-Sa’ou (14) and Saleh Diab. The forces also arrested one male protestor and one female protestor on charges of “assaulting police and settlers and disruption of order”.
Um Ramadan Al-Sa’ou fainted and suffered bruises in her head after being pushed to the ground while attempting to protect her son Mu’taz from being arrested; she was transferred to the hospital for treatment.
The locals explained that the forces also harassed and assaulted a group of protestors and injured one of them in his head.
The center was also informed that the police released the child Mohammad on condition of house-arrest for 5 days and ordered him not to approach the street of the house of Shamasneh family for 20 days in addition to a 1000-NIS bail. Saleh Diab was also released on condition of deportation from the western part of Sheikh Jarrah for two weeks; they are both residents of Sheikh Jarrah.
The Israeli police unconditionally released the child Mu’taz Al-Sa’ou, and released the male protestor on condition of deportation from the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah for two weeks while extending the arrest of the female protestor to present her to court.
On Friday, the Noon Prayer was held in front of the house of Shamasneh family.
