Esawyeh: Arrests...raids...educational strike continues in the village of Esawyeh
The Musta'ribeen (undercover police) arrested last Tuesday night a child after assaulting and severely beating him during clashes in the village of Esawyeh.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center's lawyer, Khaldoun Nijem, explained that Musta'ribeen individuals arrested Bara' Mahmoud (17) from the village of Esawyeh. He was injured with multiple bruises especially in the face after being assaulted and severely beaten.
Witnesses explained to the center that the occupation forces raided the village of Esawyeh and were deployed in the streets. Several hours later, violent clashes broke out in the village between young men and occupation forces that randomly fired live ammunition, rubber bullets and sound grenades.
Mohammad Abu Hummos, member of follow-up committee in the village of Esawyeh, added that the forces raided the village for no reason and deliberately provoked the locals in addition to firing live ammunition. Musta'ribeen individuals also fired live ammunition in the air while arresting a child while the water cannon vehicle was stationed at the entrance of the village.
Abu Hummos added that the occupation forces surrounded the house of Essawi family in the village before prisoner Shireen Essawi was released, and tore up pictures of her. She was then released after several hours of waiting in front of Damon prison and then Al-Maskobyeh center where she was transferred after being released from the prison.
Essawi family explained that the occupation authorities released their daughter after several hours of deliberately delaying her. Her brothers Shadi and Firas were requested for interrogation and the intelligence conditioned them not to carry out a welcoming ceremony for their sister.
The students' parents' committee in the village of Esawyeh said that education will continue to be suspended in all of the village's schools and kindergartens in refusal of the occupation authorities' policy of targeting students while heading to schools and after leaving them.
The committee and officials in the village as well as organizations and institutions held a press condition last Tuesday in which they confirmed the suspension of education in all schools until Israeli officials commit to provide a secure environment for the students in the village of Esawyeh and to stop raiding the village.
