Beit Hanina- Occupation authorities demolish a house and displace its residents
Last Wednesday, the occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished a house belonging to Emran Masri in the neighborhood of Beit Hanina, north of Jerusalem.
Masri explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that Israeli bulldozers demolished his house without warning and did not allow him to take out his contents, but the municipal workers took out part of it and the bigger part was left under the rubble of the house.
Masri added that the municipal staff and the occupation forces stormed his house in the morning. He was not there. Upon his arrival, he tried to inform the municipal inspector that there was a decision to postpone and freeze the demolition decision for one month, but he did not care, and the bulldozers proceeded with the demolition.
Masri said he had lived in the house for 11 years and tried to license it, but the municipality rejected his application on the grounds that "there is no construction line in the area." He has been charged with building violations amounting to NIS 40,000, in addition to costs for lawyers and engineers over the past years, as he hoped not to demolish his house.
Masri said: "Seven people, mostly children, are homeless. There is no place for us to live after the demolition".
