Four families are forced to self-demolish their homes in Jerusalem
The occupation municipality forced 4 families from Jerusalem to self-demolish their facilities under the pretext of building without a permit.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem stated that, during the past few days, the occupation municipality forced 4 families "Awadallah, Nimer, Abu Hadwan, and Siam" to self-demolish their facilitiesin order to avoid paying financial fines.
Shu’fat
Jihad Awadallah said that the family recently demolished their two-storey building in the town of Shu’fat. The area of each apartment was 120 square meters, pointing out that the building has been in existence for 20 years, and the family tried to license it to no avail, and the municipality imposed on them a building violation fine of 120,000 shekels.
Awadallah noted that his brother was living in one of the apartments, and he was forced to move to a rented apartment after the demolition.
Sur Baher
The municipality forced Nimer Nimer to self-demolish hi son’s apartment in the village of Sur Baher.
Nimer explained that the apartment has been in existence for 5 years, and he was making the necessary finishes and restorations from the inside, but the municipality issued a demolition order and informed him of the necessity of immediate demolition, otherwise its staff will do so.
Nimer pointed out that the apartment has an area of 90 square meters.
Silwan
The Abu Hadwan family explained that the municipality forced them to self-demolish a hall of about 90 square meters, noting that it was built of iron poles and shades, and that the family used it for family events and meetings, given the limited space of homes in Jerusalem.
The Abu Hadwan property is located in the area of Dung Gate, overlooking Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The municipality also forced Omar Siam to self-demolish livestock barracks in the town, under the pretext of building without a permit.
