After 3 months…burying the Jerusalemite Martyr Hazem al-Julani
Late Monday evening, the body of the Jerusalemite Martyr Hazem al-Julani was buried in the Yusufiya cemetery in the city of Jerusalem, amid a complete closure of the area's perimeter and the spread of intelligence, police and officers.
The occupation authorities handed over the body of the martyr al-Julani at the “police headquarters” in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, then the Red Crescent ambulance transferred him to al-Maqased Hospital. After his family bid farewell to him, the body was transferred to the area of Lions Gate where a prayer was held to his soul, and he was buried in the Yusufiya Cemetery in the presence of intelligence personnel, forces and officers during the whole process since the body was handed over to the family until it was buried.
The streets leading to the cemetery were also closed, and barriers were placed, and only members of his family, whose names were specified on the lists, were allowed to enter, after checking their identities.
The family’s lawyer, Khaldoun Nijem, explained that only38 people were allowed to pray over the body of the martyr al-Julani and participate in his funeral, “these names were registered two days ago.” Women were prevented from being in the area of the funeral, and the body was not allowed to be taken to the family’s house in Beit Hanina to bid him farewell, and the intelligence conditioned the family to only see him at Al-Maqased Hospital.
Nijem added that intelligence personnel escorted the ambulance after receiving the body, and inside Al-Maqased Hospital, where the intelligence agents remained at the gate where the dead get "washed” until he was transferred back to the ambulance.
Lawyer Nijem explained that the intelligence prevented taking pictures of the body, prayer, and the funeral, as the forces were present near the martyr's grave until the burial process was over.
Lawyer Nijem added that the body was in a completely frozen state, and this reflects the conditions of detention and the very low temperature in the martyrs' detention refrigerators.
Al-Julani was martyred on 10/9/2021 after he was shot in the area of Al-Majles Gate - one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque -.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities continue to detain 7 Jerusalemite martyrs in refrigerators.
