The Qaraqe' family "continued sanctions" - details of the arrest of the martyr's wife and the closure of two family homes
The occupation authorities continue to impose sanctions and retaliatory measures on the family of the martyr Hussein Qaraqe’, who died on Friday afternoon.
The staff of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem met Mrs. Aya Qaraqe' - the wife of the martyr Hussein - after her release yesterday evening from Hasharon Prison, and the occupation authorities required her to sign a paper preventing her from entering her home in the village of Issawiya.
Mrs. Aya explained to the center that she was released from prison without a court, on the condition that she does not enter her house, noting that she has been living in the house on a lease since 2017.
Mrs. Qaraqe' was arrested on Friday afternoon, and she explained that immediately after the forces stormed her house, they detained her in a room, searched her and began field investigation with her. Then she was taken to the "Al-Maskobyeh" center and interrogated for several hours continuously, before transferring her to Hasharon Prison.
Qaraqe’ explained that she was transferred to a solitary room in the prison, and while she was being transported by car, she was continuously insulted.
As for the hardest thing that Mrs. Qaraqe’ went through, she said: “All the time I was worried and afraid for my daughter Carmel, who is two months old, and is dependent on breastfeeding, as well as for my daughter Sham, 5 years old, and Khaled, who is no more than two years old. I asked the jailers to call my family to check on my children, but they refused to do so.”
Qaraqe’ noted that her infant daughter, Carmel, had a high temperature yesterday, Saturday, which necessitated her transfer to the hospital for the necessary examinations.
In a field visit to the home of the martyr Qaraqe’ family in the town of Al-Tur, it was found that the occupation forces closed the home of the father of the martyr Khaled Qaraqe’, in which “5 people live,” and the home of Dima Qaraqe’ – the martyr’s sister – “3 people live in.” They are two apartments adjacent to each other with two separate entrances.
The center stated, quoting the family, that the forces informed them on Saturday evening that only the home of the martyr’s father would be closed, and they were given several hours to empty its contents and leave. As for his sister’s apartment, the officer confirmed that it would not be closed, but the family was surprised after the forces withdrew by closing the two apartments.
The family explained that the home of the martyr's sister was closed with all its contents, and even the needs of the infant girl were not removed from the house.
The forces closed the two homes by "blocking all the doors and windows" with sheet metal, aluminum and iron.
The two apartments are located within a 7-storey residential building, and they are on the ground floor.
The Prime Minister of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, had instructed on Friday to close the home of the martyr Qaraqe’, then a statement was issued from Netanyahu’s office stating, “Qaraqe’ lives in a rented house in Issawiya, and it is not clear whether it is legal to close or demolish it.” Two days later, two apartments of the family in Al-Tur were closed, and the martyr’s wife was prevented from entering her rented home in Issawiya.
The occupation authorities also continue to arrest the two brothers of the martyr Qaraqe' - Ahmed and Mohammad - and extend their detention until next Thursday.
