Deporting Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat from the city of Jerusalem
On Wednesday, the Israeli intelligence deported the deputy director of the Jerusalem endowments, Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, to the West Bank, for 6 months, by decision of the "Commander of the Home Front".
The Israeli occupation forces arrested Sheikh Bkeirat on Wednesday from his home in the village of Sur Bahir in the evening, and after hours of interrogating him, he was released on the condition that he be immediately deported outside of Jerusalem, and he was followed by police cars to ensure "implementation of the deportation order."
Sheikh Bkeirat explained that the investigation with him is focused on "his breaking the decision to deport him from Jerusalem and staying inside it, his statements to the media about that, and his refusal to leave the city."
The commander of the Home Front had issued a decision to deport Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat from the city of Jerusalem on 2/7/2023, and gave him 72 hours to object to it, and after the appeal was submitted, the Supreme Court demanded clarification of the reasons for the deportation, but it did not freeze the decision, and therefore Sheikh Bkeirat announced the sit-in inside his house in the village of Sur Baher, refused to implement the decision, and he said at the time: "I will not leave my house and Jerusalem voluntarily."
According to the deportation order handed to Sheikh Bkeirat, the reason for deporting him is that he is "active in the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), and is involved in security activities, and his presence in Jerusalem poses a threat to security".
In 1981, the persecution of Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat began, with summonses and arrests more than 30 times, and he was expelled from Al-Aqsa 32 times "over the course of 7 years", and he was also banned from traveling for several years.
Today, Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, is surrounded by 3 decisions: "Deportation from Jerusalem, expulsion from Al-Aqsa, and a travel-ban.”
