Day 61: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
December 6, 2023

On the 61st day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the occupation municipality crews demolished a house in the town of Silwan, while continuing the siege imposed on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, and also carried out separate arrests from the city of Jerusalem.

Demolition in Al-Bustan neighborhood

The occupation municipality crews, accompanied by police forces, stormed the home of the Jalajel family in the Al-Bustan neighborhood, in the town of Silwan. After imposing a comprehensive siege on the area and closing the roads leading to the neighborhood and the house in particular, the municipality began the demolition process using manual demolition tools.

Haitham Jalajel explained that the house has been in place since 2011, and 4 people live in it, and the municipality issued a demolition decision in 2018.

Last September, the municipality issued the final demolition decision, and imposed a fine of 30,000 shekels on the family.

There is a threat of demolition of the homes of the Al-Bustan neighborhood, in order to establish the “King’s Park” on its ruins, after the municipality rejected all engineering plans submitted to organize and license facilities in the neighborhood.

The Al-Bustan neighborhood includes about 100 houses in which about 1,550 people live, most of whom are children and women.

In the village of Issawiya, the occupation municipality crews distributed demolition notices and summons to the municipality during the storming of the village, while the crews photographed the facilities and streets.

A continuous siege

The occupation authorities continue to impose a siege the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, preventing entry to it except for employees of the Islamic Endowments Department and the elderly, most of whom are residents of the Old City.

The forces are stationed at the gates of Al-Aqsa, inspect those arriving there, and impose strict restrictions before allowing entry, while preventing any prayer at the thresholds of Al-Aqsa and pursuing young men to prevent them from doing so.

100 settlers carried out their raids into Al-Aqsa Mosque, during the morning and afternoon raids, through the Dung Gate, under the protection of the occupation forces.

The "alleged Temple groups" continue to call for raids on Al-Aqsa during the week of Hanukkah, and the "Women for the Temple" organization published a schedule of raids for the period from next Sunday until Thursday.

The program includes religious lessons and tours organized by settlement groups led by women activists in this organization.

The forces also continue to deploy and station themselves at the gates of the Old City, arresting those arriving there, examining identities, and conducting field investigations.

The forces also prevent sitting in the Damascus Gate area.

In the village of Sur Baher, the occupation forces continue to deploy at the entrances to the village and storm its streets, as residents explained that members of the occupation forces are stopping vehicles, examining licenses, conducting thorough inspections, and canceling licenses for “vehicles and motorcycles.”

The occupation forces continued their raids into towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, and arrests continued from several neighborhoods in the city.
