Day 431 Jerusalem during “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation
On the 431st day of "Al-Aqsa Flood” operation, the Ateret Cohanim settlement association seized a residential building in Silwan, while settlers continued to raid Al-Aqsa Mosque, and forces continued to raid towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, and arrest young men with West Bank IDs.
Seizure of a building in Silwan
The "Ateret Cohanim" association seized the Ghaith family building in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in the town of Silwan in Jerusalem.
Settlers, in large numbers, accompanied by workers and special forces, stormed the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood and spread out in its alleys, then raided the Ghaith family building and prevented access to it.
Eyewitnesses said that the settlers immediately upon arriving at the "two-story" building began digging and cleaning work in the area.
The forces also destroyed an external door to the house of Abdullah Ghaith, which separates it from the Ghaith building that was seized, and closed a public road gate for the residents of the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood.
The forces were deployed in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood for hours, imposed restrictions on the movement of residents, and assaulted young men. Salem Ghaith, the owner of the property, explained in a previous interview that the family has been living in the building since 1979, but the court ruled that the land belongs to the settlers. He noted that the property consists of two floors and its total area is 50 square meters for each floor.
The Ateret Cohanim Association claims that 5200 square meters of land in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood have belonged to Jews from Yemen since 1881. Since 2015, the association has been delivering notices and judicial notices to families in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood to evict them from their homes. In recent months, eviction decisions have been implemented against families, as the building of the Shehada family and a property of the Abu Nab family have been seized.
Zuhair al-Rajabi, head of the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood committee, explained that 87 families, comprising between 600-680 people, are threatened with eviction in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, and are facing judicial decisions and notices in the "Magistrate, District, and Supreme" courts.
Storming Al-Aqsa
167 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Dung Gate, whose keys are controlled by the occupation authorities.
The settlers performed their prayers in Al-Aqsa.
Raids and Arrests
The forces continued to raid towns and neighborhoods in the city of Jerusalem, and set up checkpoints in the streets.
The police said in a statement that they arrested 6 young men with West Bank IDs, while they were working at a construction site in the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan, and arrested the employer, and closed the site for 30 days.
Refusal to hand over the bodies
Mohammad Mahmoud, a lawyer for the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, said that the Israeli Supreme Court rejected the petition submitted to release the bodies of the martyrs Ali Abbasi and Abdul Rahman Faraj, which means that they will continue to be detained without clarifying whether they will be buried in the numbered graves or remain in refrigerators.
The Israeli Supreme Court held a session to consider the petition submitted to the Supreme Court last month.
Abbasi and Faraj were martyred on 10/10/2023 "on the fourth day of the war on the Gaza Strip" during clashes that erupted in the town of Silwan.
