Details of the release of 6 Jerusalemite prisoners with life sentences
On the 27th day of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the sixth batch of the exchange deal between Israel and Hamas was implemented in its first phase, and 6 Jerusalemite prisoners with life sentences were released.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center-Jerusalem said that the released prisoners are: the brothers Ibrahim Sarahneh (sentenced to 6 life sentences), Khalil Sarahneh, and Musa Sarahneh (sentenced to one life sentence and 20 years each), all of whom were arrested in 2002, Nael Obeid (sentenced to 7 life sentences and 30 years and arrested in 2004), Murad Al-Ajlouni (sentenced to 3 life sentences and 20 years and arrested in 2002), and Samir Ghaith (sentenced to one life sentence and 20 years and arrested in 2002).
The Information Center added that the prisoners Musa Sarahneh and Samir Gaith were deported to Egypt, while the rest of the prisoners returned to their homes and the homes of their families in Issawiya, Kufor Aqab, and Bethlehem.
The center indicated that the released prisoner Nael Obeid was the only one who was released from Al-Maskoubiya prison, while the rest of the prisoners who were not deported outside the Palestinian territories were released from Ofer prison.
The Information Center said that the Red Crescent crews transferred the released Sarahneh brothers, to the Ramallah Medical Complex to receive treatment and initial examinations.
The Sarahneh family explained that the intelligence informed them that the two prisoners, Sarahneh, would be released from Al-Maskoubiya prison because they hold "Israeli identity cards," but the family was surprised by their release from Ofer prison and then their transfer to the city of Betounia.
The Obeid family... summons, house evacuation, and tight siege
As for the Obeid family from Issawiya, the intelligence summoned the father of the prisoner Obeid to the "Rooms 4" police station since the morning hours, and forced him to sign a paper on the "conditions of release," which included "no gathering, no raising of flags or banners, and no launching of firecrackers." After being detained until 11 a.m., he was transferred to the intelligence vehicle, and then he was transferred with his son Nael to their house in Issawiya.
In the intelligence vehicle, the prisoner and his guardian were prevented from talking to each other or greeting each other. These are the procedures followed by the occupation authorities to release Jerusalemite prisoners whose names are included in exchange deals, as happened in the exchange deal in November 2023, and the current deal in 2025.
Before prisoner Obeid arrived at his home, a large force of intelligence and forces stormed the house, forcibly evacuated it, and prevented his relatives from being present, and only allowed the residents of the house to be present in it. They also surrounded the house before, during, and after the release of prisoner Nael. While the forces were in the village, tear gas bombs were fired heavily around the house of the released prisoner Obeid, to prevent access to the house and forcibly evacuate the area.
"We do not forget and we do not forgive" on the prisoners' clothes
The prison administration forced the Palestinian prisoners to wear shirts that read "We do not forget and we do not forgive"... and printed on them "Prison Service.. Detention, Security, Execution" and the logo of the prison administration and the six-pointed star".
In the past weeks, the prison administration put paper bracelets on the prisoners released in the deal that read "The eternal people do not forget. I pursue my enemies and catch them.
Exchange deals brought together the couple Sarahneh
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the released prisoner Ibrahim Sarahneh is the husband of the released prisoner Irina Sarahneh who was released from captivity in the "Wafa al-Ahrar/Shalit" exchange deal in 2011. The center added that Irina was with her husband Ibrahim in 2002 and was sentenced to 3 years in prison on the condition that she be deported to her country, Ukraine, but she refused to be deported and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She was released after spending 9 years in prison. Ibrahim Sarahneh and his wife Irina have two daughters, "Yasmine and Ghazala.”
17 Jerusalemite prisoners on the "Israeli Ministry of Justice List" are still in prison
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center-Jerusalem said that 17 Jerusalemite prisoners whose names were included in the "Israeli Ministry of Justice" list and are scheduled to be released in the first stage of the exchange deal are still in prison. Among them are 3 with long sentences, 7 released in the “Shalit” deal and were re-arrested, and 7 prisoners with life sentences (1 was released to his home in Jerusalem, and the rest were deported outside the Palestinian territories)
