Pursuing prisoners released in the exchange deal with arrests, home raids, and sentencing of a boy
April 23, 2025

The occupation authorities continued their pursuit of prisoners released in the exchange deal between Hamas and Israel, through arrests, threats, and home raids, while issuing prison sentences against a number of Jerusalemite prisoners.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reported that the Israeli Magistrate's Court extended the detention of freed prisoner Reda Obeid from the village of Issawiya on Wednesday until next Monday.

Obeid was arrested at dawn after occupation forces raided his home in the village of Issawiya in Jerusalem.

The center explained that Obeid had been released as part of the "third batch" of prisoners released in the exchange deal on November 30.

During the recent period, his home was repeatedly raided, he received threats from occupation forces, and he was summoned for interrogation several times.

Israeli police released freed prisoner Musa al-Ajlouni, who was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, while walking in the Old City of Jerusalem, after extending his detention for one day. He was released today on bail.

Yesterday, Israeli forces raided the homes of several prisoners released as part of the exchange deal, conducting field investigations with them or their family members, and issuing direct threats.

This escalation comes after statements in Israeli media about studying the possibility of re-arresting prisoners released in the deal if Hamas continues to reject the ceasefire proposals.

Yesterday, the Israeli District Court sentenced Basil Ayed Obeidyeh from the village of Jabal al-Mukabber to 28 years in prison and a fine of 125,000 shekels.

Obeidyeh was arrested by Israeli forces in early September 2023 from the Jaffa Gate area of Jerusalem and subjected to harsh interrogations in his cells on charges of carrying out a stabbing attack against a settler while still a high school student.

The court also extended the detention of the two boys, Saleh Aklik and Saeed Fasfous, until next Thursday.
