Prison sentences…extensions of arrest

The District Court in Jerusalem sentenced on Monday four Jerusalemites.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the District judge sentenced 20-year old Amjad Ali Abbasi for 4 years of actual imprisonment; he was arrested on 20/7/2015. The judge also sentenced 23-year old Hamzeh Ahmad Najjar for 28 months of actual imprisonment; he has been detained since 7/10/2015.

Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the District judge sentenced 17-year old Mutaz Jalal Ayesh Syouri for 34 months and 18-year old Firas Nassar for 28 months of actual imprisonment on charges of throwing Molotov Cocktails towards an “Egged” bus.

On the other hand, lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of Munther Khalil until 25/5/2016 and Mohammad Abu Diab until 24/5/2016; Mahmoud Salim, Nasrallah Gheith and Obada Nidal Idais until Monday morning and Ismaeel Karaki until completing the legal procedures against him.

The judge also sentenced Amir Qawasmi for 3 months of public service and suspended probation of three months for three years. He also extended the arrest of Amir Bilbeisi until 26/6/2016, Ala’ Salah and Mahmoud Mheisen until 12/7/2016, Jihad Zaghal and Hasan Khalfawi until 24/5/2016, Hakim Dirbas until 17/5/2016 and Hasan Safadi until 22/5/2016.

Lawyer Mahmoud added that the judge extended the arrest of the minors Mohammad Abu Khdeir and Firas Mahmoud until 29/5/2016; an indictment was submitted against them.

Also, the judge extended the arrest of Omar Mona, Malek Hijazi, Tarek Samman and Ahmad Khalil until 18/5/2016.
