Releasing Nadia Abu Jamal- wife of Martyr Ghassan- on condition of not entering the city of Jerusalem
The occupation police released on Tuesday night Nadia Abu Jamal- wife of Martyr Ghassan- on condition of not entering the city of Jerusalem.
Mouawya Abu Jamal, Martyr’s brother, explained that Abu Ghneim police center released Nadia on Tuesday night on condition of not entering the city of Jerusalem under the pretext of holding a West Bank ID. The Israeli Supreme Court ratified the decision of the Minister of Interior in 2015 to deport Nadia Abu Jamal from the city and cancel her “reunion” application.
In terms of the releasing conditions, Mouawya explained that the police released his brother’s wife after his father (Mohammad Abu Jamal, 71) signed a 3-thousand NIS bail in addition to actual imprisonment of 6 months for him as well as arresting Nadia in case she enters the city again.
Mouawya said that Nadia’s reunion application was cancelled on the day her husband passed away in November 2014. During interrogation at Al-Maskobyeh police center in West Jerusalem, she was told that the Israeli Minister of Interior issued an order to deport her and cancel her reunion application; she appealed the decision at the Supreme Court but was refused.
Sanctions imposed on the family of Martyr Ghassan did not stop at cancelling the wife’s reunion application but also affected her three children (Walid 8, Salma 6 and Mohammad 5) after the court ratified the decision to ban them from receiving treatment at Israeli hospitals and medical center and also suspended their social security allowance.
Nadia Abu Jamal is from the Eastern Sawahreh and holds a West Bank ID. In 2002, she got married to Ghassan Abu Jamal and the family filed their “reunion” application which was rejected at first. In 2009, she was granted residency and a permit to stay in Jerusalem and move between the West Bank and Jerusalem through main checkpoints only; she had to renew her permit on a yearly basis.
