The funeral procession for martyr Shqeirat took place after his body was held for four days… and the bodies of 30 Jerusalemite martyrs are still being held
On Sunday afternoon, Palestinians buried the body of Jerusalemite martyr Qasem Amjad Abu al-Amal Shqeirat, 21 years old, after it had remained in Israeli morgues for four days.
The Israeli authorities delivered Shqeirat's body to his family, who then held prayers before burying him in Jabal al-Mukabber village cemetery.
On the morning of last Wednesday (March 25, 2026), Israeli forces raided the Abu al-Amal family building in Jabal al-Mukabber, simultaneously conducting raids on the homes of brothers Omar and Amjad. They detained members of both families and carried out thorough searches, confiscating multiple electronic devices.
When storming Amjad's house, his wife asked about her son Qasem. She and her younger son, Qais, were then confined to the kitchen. Later, the mother and Qais were moved to another room, where they heard a single gunshot.
Meanwhile, soldiers took the child Qais to his mother's bedroom, forcing her to turn her face to the wall to prevent her from seeing what was happening. Video footage showed soldiers dragging the body of the martyr Qasem out of his home.
The Israeli occupation authorities continue to detain the bodies of Palestinian martyrs, either in numbered graves or morgues, employing this policy as a form of collective punishment against their families.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem reports that occupation authorities are detaining the bodies of 30 Jerusalemite martyrs, all holding Israeli identity cards.
