Pictures and details- The Martyrdom of Ahmad Ghazal…a siege on the Old City of Jerusalem- arrests and requests for interrogation

The 17-year old Ahmad Zaher Fathi Ghazal from Nablus passed away in the city of Jerusalem after being shot by the occupation forces after carrying a stabbing attack against settlers in Al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The police said in a statement that the young man stabbed two settlers in Al-Wad Street and ran towards a building in the area. He was chased during which he stabbed a borders control individual.

Witnesses explained that the young man ran towards a building that includes apartments and clinics. Occupation soldiers stormed into the building and heavily opened fire towards him. Marks of bullets on the walls clearly showed that he was shot from close distance as big holes were obvious on the walls; he was shot with more than 25 bullets.

Witnesses confirmed the shooting occurred immediately after the soldiers stormed into the building. They were able to arrests him especially that the building is small and was completely surrounded and does not have more than one exit, but the forces chose to execute him.

The soldiers detained the Martyr’s body inside the building for more than two hours and then transferred him in an ambulance amid closures in the area; specialists were also present in the area conducting check-ups.

Raiding commercial stores

Merchants in Al-Wad Street in the Old City of Jerusalem explained that the forces raided their stores, checked and took their IDs, and requested them to head to Al-Silsileh Gate police station for interrogation. They also seized the recording of surveillance cameras of several stores after the incident.

Merchants added that the forces ordered them to close their shops, and forces the owner of a pharmacy in Al-Wad Street to close and prevented a patient from buying medicine.

Naser Qos, head of Prisoner’s Club in Jerusalem, explained that more than 20 merchants were requested for interrogation.

Closures

The occupation authorities imposed a siege on the Old City of Jerusalem after the Martyrdom of Ahmad Ghazal, and prevented locals from entering or leaving the gates of the Old City. They also established barricades in the streets of the city.

Witnesses said the forces assaulted a man and a woman and pushed them while detaining the locals near the road of Al-Qataneen market that leads into Al-Wad Street.

In the area of Damascus Gate, the forces assaulted the locals by pushing and beating them. They forced them to evacuate the area and sprayed them with pepper gas which led to the injury of three young men with suffocation and burns. They arrested 19-year old Mohamamd Kayed Assaileh.
