A session in the occupation’s municipality to present the "air and ground train” project in Jerusalem
On Wednesday, a session was held in the occupation’s Jerusalem municipality during which the project of “air and ground train" aimed at linking East Jerusalem with West Jerusalem was presented.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center said in a statement on Wednesday evening that the head of the occupation municipality presented a detailed presentation on the project of the air and ground train for Israeli figures and representatives of several ministries, various commissions, settlement associations and rabbis and presented maps of the settlement plan.
According to the project plan, the center explained that it will be implemented in several stages, the first of which will be several tracks for an air train, all of which will converge in the courtyard of Dung Gate in the village of Silwan, and this is the planned site for the settlement project "Kedem".
According to the plan, the train will start from the Al-Baq'a neighborhood in West Jerusalem near the old train station, passing over Wadi Hilweh and Mount Zion in Silwan, to Dung Gate in the village. The second track will be from Ein Silwan in the neighborhood of Wadi Hilweh until Dung Gate while the third track will be from Ras al-Amoud neighborhood near "Al-Fateh" mosque, passing through the Jewish tombs to the courtyard of Dung Gate.
The head of the occupation municipality also spoke of a plan for a metro train from Al-Buraq Square, the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque reaching the neighborhoods of West Jerusalem.
The occupation municipality explained that the scheme of the air train will be presented to the government for approval, and is expected to be started mid-2019.
Wadi Hilweh committee said that the meeting held by the municipality with the participation of officials and representatives of settlement associations clearly revealed the objectives of the settlement plan and its attempt to Judaize history in the neighborhood adjacent to Al-Aqsa Mosque as there will be tracks and stages showing the Israeli story and totally neglecting the Palestinian identity of the place.
The committee added that the tracks mentioned by the head of the occupation municipality all meet in the courtyard of Dung Gate which was controlled by Elad settlement association in 2003. The courtyard directly overlooks Al-Aqsa Mosque from the south, and on this site, Elad settlement association intents to build Kedem settlement project.
