Arrests and injuries while suppressing a protest at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem

The occupation forces suppressed on Thursday night the daily protest in the area of Damascus Gate in Jerusalem injured 26 Jerusalemites and arrested 7 locals after assaulting and severely beating them.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that 26 Palestinians were injured with bruises due to being assaulted and suppressed by the occupation forces.

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud said the forces arrested six Jerusalemites, they are: Rayhana Odeh, Adam Kawasmi, Ismaeel Hussein, Ahmad Hussein, Mohannad Mahmoud, Ibrahim Hussein and transferred them to Salah Al-Din Street police station.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that the forces assaulted the detainees and severely beat them; some were wounded in their heads and necks.

The center also added that the forces suppressed protesters and severely beat them as they were being pushed away from the courtyard of Damascus Gate. The forces then completely closed the area and prevented anyone from approaching.

The cavalry units also had a part in assaulting locals in the street of Damascus Gate as well as Sultan Suleiman Street in order to disperse them from the area and prevent their presence.
