January 27, 2022

he residents of the city of Jerusalem were not spared the attacks of the occupation forces since the first moments of snowfall in the city. Repression, arrests and beatings continued in the city’s neighborhoods and towns, as did the settlers’ incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The occupation police said in a statement that they had arrested 54 Palestinians from Jerusalem, on suspicion of throwing stones at the police and their vehicles.

Al-Aqsa Mosque

Dozens of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa during the morning and afternoon incursions, heavily guarded by the occupation forces, while the occupation officers toured the courtyards of Al-Aqsa.

The settlers performed their prayers at Al-Aqsa, especially in the eastern region.

During the settlers’ incursions into Al-Aqsa, the occupation forces deployed around the youth while they were playing in the snow, and pursued many of them under the pretext of raising the Palestinian flag or the banner “There is no god but God,” and arrested one of the young men.

The identity cards of dozens of young men were also detained before they entered Al-Aqsa.

Damascus Gate

The occupation forces suppressed with sound bombs the gathering of young men while they were playing in the snow in the Damascus Gate area in the afternoon hours to disperse them, in conjunction with the presence of dozens of families in the square. Meanwhile, the police stopped the young men, checked their identity cards, and detained many of them in the control rooms located at the entrance to Damascus Gate, and beat them during their search.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem stated that the forces suppressed the youths late on Wednesday evening, with bombs and rubber bullets, and arrested 3 young men from the place.

Issawiya

The occupation forces suppressed the young men at the entrance to Issawiya village, with bombs and rubber bullets, and stormed the area and pursued the young men.

The forces also arrested late Wednesday evening, Muhannad Abu Asab, while he was playing in the snow, and fired a rubber bullet at him, and dispersed the young men present with grenades.

Jabal Al-Mukabber

The forces also suppressed the young men in the Jabal Al-Mukabber area, by beating and chasing, and forcibly removed them from their location, and arrested a boy.

Silwan

The occupation forces stormed Abu Tayeh neighborhood, and threw gas bombs at the boys and houses.

Al-Tur

Late on Wednesday evening, coinciding with the onset of snowfall, the occupation forces stormed Al-Tur Café and arrested 14 young men, including: Abdullah Abu Sbitan, Obaida Ghazzawi, Ihab Abu Al-Hawa, Abdullah Abu Jum’a, Muhammad Abu Jum’a, Ahmad Kabaja, and Yazan Abu Jum’a.

The center learned that the police released most of the detainees, and extended the arrest of Abdullah Abu Jum'a, Muhammad Abu Jum'a, and Ahmad Kabaja until Monday.

Dangerous collapses

On the other hand, there was a collapse in the Abu Tayeh neighborhood in the town of Silwan, of a mountain on land belonging to the Abbasi and Burqan families, after the municipality demolished a retaining wall that was built to protect the street and the mountain from dangerous collapses, under the pretext of “building without a permit,” at a time when the municipality refuses to license the wall to prevent the danger of collapsing in the place - as explained by the Abbasi family.

There was also a collapse in the "Al-Karmaa Street in the Ein Al-Lozeh neighborhood." Raed Abbasi explained that the problem has been on the street for a year and a half, and the municipality has been following up on the seriousness of the situation in the place, pointing out that there are 50 houses on the street, and it is one of the roads leading to the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber.A complete collapse is expected in the event that the municipality continues to neglect the demands of the residents to restore and repair it immediately.
