A martyr at the doorsteps of Al-Aqsa Mosque…closures and arrests
On Monday evening, the Palestinian Abd al-Rahman Jamal Qasem, 22, from Ramallah, was shot dead by the occupation forces stationed at al-Qataneen Gate - one of the gates of al-Aqsa -.
The occupation police said that the young man stabbed two policemen at the gate, and they sustained moderate injuries.
Eyewitnesses stated that the occupation forces executed the young man by firing more bullets at him after his injury and falling on the ground. The forces did not stop shooting. After he fell from the stairs of al-Qataneen Gate and was shot, one of the policemen fired a direct shot at him, and others insulted him as he screamed in pain.
Witnesses added that the forces summoned ambulance crews and provided first aid to the police, while the young man was left bleeding until he was martyred.
The occupation forces closed the Old City gates and the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially al-Qataneen Gate and its surroundings.
At the gates of the Old City, especially Herods Gate and Damascus Gate, the forces beat and pushed those present, and arrested 3 young men.
The worshipers performed the Evening and Night prayers at the gates of the Old City and Al-Aqsa, after being prevented from entering the mosque.
