On Wednesday morning, the Public Prosecution filed an indictment against Mahmoud Mohammad Aleiwat, 13 years old, to the District Court in Jerusalem.
The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that the indictment against the child, Aleiwat, included several charges according to the "terrorism law". They are: carrying out "terrorist" acts by attempting to kill, using weapons, possessing and transferring weapons.
The lawyer added that the court approved his request to release his client, "as the law prohibits the arrest of children under the age of 14," on the conditions of transferring him to the "Yarka Institute" in the Palestinian 1948 lands, after completing his treatment in the hospital, , with the completion of legal procedures.
Lawyer Mahmoud added that the legal procedures against his client will continue until the final verdict is issued.
Lawyer Mahmoud explained that until he is transferred to the boarding institute, his definition as a detainee will be revoked, and he will remain in the hospital without cuffs in his hands and legs. as it was in the past period. Five members of his family will be allowed to visit him at any time, and two family members can accompany him during his treatment in the hospital.
The child Aleiwat carried out a shooting attack against settlers in the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in the town of Silwan on January 28th, and he was shot and severely beaten during his arrest, which led to serious injuries. He is still in the hospital in a difficult but stable health condition.
