Day 14: Al-Aqsa Flood Operation in the city of Jerusalem
On the fourteenth day of “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation, the occupation forces prevented worshipers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform Friday prayers, and pursued young men in the streets of Jerusalem in an attempt to prevent prayers on the streets, and suppressed them with bombs, beatings, and waste water.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem explained that the forces deployed their checkpoints and forces in the streets of Jerusalem and at the entrances to the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The forces walked on foot in the streets and alleys of Jerusalem and the Old City, and set up checkpoints in several areas, and checked the identities of those arriving to Al-Aqsa, especially the young men.
The center added that the forces deployed in large numbers in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem and Ras al-Amoud in Silwan, and prevented the young men from heading to Al-Aqsa, and asked them to return to their homes and not sit and be present in the streets.
The center explained that the forces suppressed the young men in the Wadi al-Joz area with gas bombs and wastewater “before the Noon call to prayer,” and deliberately sprayed water in the streets to prevent prayer. Despite this, the young men insisted on praying and returned to the nearest location in the neighborhood to pray, and immediately after the call to prayer was established, the forces threw gas bombs again towards the young men and dispersed them.
‘In the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood, the forces chased the young men, beat and pushed them, and tried to prevent them from praying, but they insisted and were able to pray on the sidewalks.
The forces also attacked worshipers at Lions Gate and Lions Gate Road, to keep them away and prevent them from praying.
The young men also prayed Friday prayers in the roads and streets of Jerusalem and the alleys of the Old City, “the closest point to Al-Aqsa that they were able to reach.”
The occupation forces continued arrests and summonses from the city of Jerusalem, and the center monitored the following arrests:
1. Uday Maraqa
2. Issa Attoun
