Jerusalem - 48 years for Al-Sidawi, 3 years for Da'na, and the arrest of dozens of West Bank ID holders

ON Thursday, an Israeli court sentenced Jerusalemite Amir al-Sidawi to 48 and a half years in prison, in addition to imposing financial compensation to seven settlers, after he was convicted of carrying out a shooting attack in the Dung Gate area of ​​Silwan.

Occupation forces arrested al-Sidawi in August 2022, subjected him to harsh and lengthy interrogations, and transferred him between several Israeli prisons. He is currently being held in the Nafha desert prison.

The court also sentenced Jerusalemite Abdul Karim Da'na (from Silwan) to three years in prison, according to Mohammad Mahmoud, a lawyer for the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem.

In a related development, occupation forces arrested four youths from the Damascus Gate area of ​​Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon, in addition to another young man who was in the Old City. He was later released on condition that he be banned from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week, with the possibility of renewal.

On Wednesday evening, Israeli occupation forces raided the village of Issawiya and arrested a number of Palestinians holding West Bank ID cards, alleging they had entered and been present in Jerusalem "illegally and without permits."

The Israeli police said in a statement that they had arrested 24 Palestinians from Jerusalem on the grounds of "illegal presence." Some were released and deported to the West Bank, while others were indicted. A driver suspected of transporting them was also arrested.
