Armed settlers block the Al-Tur-Al-Sowaneh road... and occupation forces arrest 11 Jerusalemites, including 3 women
Armed settlers prevented access on the main road linking Al-Tur and Al-Sowaneh in Jerusalem today, attacking vehicles as they passed. Israeli police later reopened the road after approximately thirty minutes.
Eyewitnesses stated that around 10 settlers came out from the Beit Orot settlement, which is on land belonging to the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood. Some of these settlers were armed with machine guns and displayed Israeli flags. They blocked the road using a shipping container, standing in front of vehicles and buses to prevent their passage. They threatened drivers with their weapons and threw stones at vehicles at random. Witnesses noted that police arrived roughly half an hour later and managed to restore the traffic flow.
In a related incident, Israeli occupation forces raided several neighborhoods and towns in Jerusalem after the high school graduation exam results were announced, firing tear gas mainly in Silwan, Al-Tur, and Issawiya.
The forces conducted arrests across the city, arresting six Jerusalem residents, including two women. At the same time, Israeli occupation personnel at Al-Aqsa Mosque gates and nearby roads kept dozens of young men from entering, turning them away. Some of these individuals were subjected to body searches and physical attacks.
Eyewitnesses reported that occupation forces arrested five Palestinians at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Jerusalemite Nafisa Khweis and Jerusalemite activist Mohammad Abu al-Hummus were among those arrested at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
