March 6, 2022

The Jerusalemite Karim Jamal Al-Qawasmi, 19 years old, was shot dead by the occupation forces at Hutta Gate- one of the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque -.

The police said in a statement that the young man carried out a stabbing attack, injuring two policemen.

Eyewitnesses said that the occupation forces fired indiscriminately and massively at the young man, which led to his death on the spot. After that, they searched him and took his fingerprints and conducted field investigations at the site.

The occupation forces closed Hutta Gate and prevented the worshipers from entering to perform the Dawn prayer. During that, their teams deployed in large numbers in the vicinity of Hutta Gate and the roads of the Old City. The worshipers performed the Dawn prayer in the Lions Gate area after preventing them from entering.

In the early hours of the morning, the occupation forces stormed the house of the martyr Al-Qawasmi, after assaulting the family members, and proceeded to search it and prevented the family members from approaching the house - according to Ismail Al-Qawasmi - the martyr's cousin.

Al-Qawasmi added that the forces arrested the martyr's mother and brother Mohammad, while asked his father to come for investigation immediately as he was on his way to work.

Al-Qawasmi noted that the intelligence released the family members after several hours of investigation.

The family added that their son is a freed prisoner, who spent about a year and a half in prison, and was released about two years ago.

The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Mohammad Mahmoud, stated that he will submit a "mini-petition" to the court tomorrow to demand the handover of the martyr’s body.
