In solidarity with Shu’fat refugee camp - Jerusalem turns into a confrontation arena
On Wednesday evening, the city of Jerusalem turned into a confrontation arena, rejecting the siege imposed on the Shu’fat refugee camp and the town of Anata since Thursday.
Issawiya, Silwan, Al-Tur, Al-Sowaneh, Jabal Al-Mukabber, Sur Baher, Beit Hanina, Wadi Al-Joz and Shu’fat refugee camp witnessed confrontations in the morning and intensified in the early evening hours.
The streets of towns and neighborhoods were closed with stones, containers and wood, and youths threw firecrackers and Molotov cocktails at the intrusive forces.
The occupation forces used gas bombs extensively in all neighborhoods, and sprayed wastewater in “Al-Tour, Issawiya, Al-Sowaneh, and Silwan.” Many residents suffered from gas and wastewater suffocation, “chemical water that emits unpleasant odors and lasts for several days.”
The forces also targeted the young men with rubber bullets.
In the Al-Sowaneh neighborhood, the settlers stormed the houses opposite the "Beit Orot" settlement and took up positions in its yards.
Outside the Shu’fat camp checkpoint, the occupation forces suppressed the worshipers as soon as they finished performing the Evening prayer, and threw sound bombs between the worshipers, and arrested two young men, then evacuated the area after beating and assaulting them.
The forces prevented ambulance crews "Red Crescent vehicles" from being present at the scene.
As for the Shu’fat camp, the forces suppressed the residents’ sit-in with bombs and chased them towards the camp, with bombs and rubber bullets.
In the evening, the forces arrested a boy from Beit Hanina.
The forces also arrested a young man and a woman from Al-Tur, and extended their detention for tomorrow.
The lawyer of the Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem, Firas Al-Jabrini, explained that the forces carried out separate arrests in Jerusalem, and among them were: Laith Farrah, Islam Abu Laban, Ahmed Marzouk, Robeen Alqam, Hakim Abu Khdeir, Mohammad Abu Shusha, Mahmoud Al-Tahan, Amer Al-Lahlia and Fares Salfiti.
