A Jerusalemite man was martyred by Israeli occupation forces near Damascus Gate, and his body was seized
Early Friday morning, Israeli forces shot and killed a young Palestinian man at Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Israeli police reported that border officers shot and killed a 33-year-old man from East Jerusalem, reportedly during an attempted stabbing attack. He was injured and died on the spot.
The police statement reports that the incident happened around 3:45 AM.
After the shooting, Israeli forces sealed off the area entirely, blocking access to the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They also imposed stricter restrictions on worshippers going to perform the dawn prayer.
Israeli forces stopped hundreds of worshippers from accessing the Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially via Lions' Gate, Herod's Gate, and Damascus Gate. After the dawn call to prayer, the gates were reopened, allowing some worshippers to enter.
The forces also chased after several young men near the Old City and attacked some of them.
Israeli forces continue to hold the body of the young man.
